Had a 2 hour long case, he seemed to listen to me.. but his professional listed jobs I could probably do in our national economy, I don't think there's many glass blowers out And, how could any disabled person not get fired from a job when absent several times a month? Waiting for decision still. Not feeling good about this..well 3rd time could be a charm!!

On December 17, I had a hearing with Judge Ramsey and I was scared and nervous but he put me at ease. He listens and he allows you to tell him your case with respect. I was shocked at how much knowledge he had regarding my disability and that let me know that he understands not only the legal aspect but also the medical. Yes, I lost it and looked a total mess but I felt safe to put my guard down. There was hope. He heard my struggle and I am forever grateful.

Well I want to start how scared I was just the unknown. In my heart I knew the evidence would speak for me. I can't fake congested heart failure. Depression and anxiety. It's a real as it comes. Judge Fulton was very understanding and listened to me and I thank him for that. I was very honest I held back nothing. Remember to always tell the truth.

I am trying to get in touch with Judge Gardiner. In 1996 he helped my husband Michael Cunningham from Lawrence MA get SSI. Now after all this time SS is saying that they overpaid Michael $200,000 and demanding that I repay them. Michael was also receiving workmens compensation from the post office he worked. He received these monies until December 2017 when he passed away. I need help, please help me I don't have the money to repay them.

Here is the most important thing you need to know about Judge Packer: You MUST give him a pre-hearing memo outlining your case, and any particular facts you think it's important for him to know that may not readily jump out of the record. He likes to know the record cold. If you give him a memo he will be familiar with it. He is a very smart and very well prepared ALJ and he expects the same of attorneys who appear before him (lest you be prepared for drill-sergeant level pre-hearing reaming out!). He has a gruff exterior and is no B.S. and to the point. Beneath all of that however he is a very kindly, decent man, who, in my view, really wants to help the claimant if he can. I encountered Judge Packer through a video hearing. Two other attorneys in my office also had hearings with him the same day, and all gave him high marks. Your client will get a very fair shake from Judge Packer. He is a really nice ALJ, as long as you do your prep work. I'd happily welcome another opportunity to appear before him.

Depression anxiety. Also carpel tunnel. I found her rude and after 6 years to get denied she has ruined my life.

I had my hearing this morning. I was extremely nervous and have no idea what the outcome will be. I felt it was important to review Judge Ramsey as he had been respectful, professional and fair. Whatever the outcome, I felt my hearing was fair and I felt like I had been heard. My only regret was not relaying my final words- I clammed up. I am not the best at articulating vocally. I wished I had ended on “Sometimes people just need some help getting through struggles and recovery- hoping that recovery will take place and I can re enter the workplace with a new start.” At the end of the day... I feel relieved to have had my story told.

The social security and job compensation Judge's don't treat Black people fair. After waiting for two years to be seen, I was told that if I didn't sign a piece of paper saying I'm waiving my SSD benefits, if not I'll have to wait for another court date. He basically threatened me, knowing that I person who have a waited over two years and now if I say I don't want it, I can received my award soon. But when my white friends applied, they got SSI and SSD, if you look my race, how each person was awarded, YOU WILL FIND DISCREPANCY AND UNFAIRNESS!

He is all intellect and no empathy. I had the bad luck to get this judge. One year I was so sick I saw 8 different doctors to try to get well. I was in no condition to work. He ruled my case unfavorably. It's sickening that judges make 100-200 thousand a year denying sick people a measly $800 a month. This is my humble opinion.

This is an honest review as I have not received a decision. I think Judge Levin is nothing but fair I think he looks at all evidence good and bad and is nothing but professional. He was nothing but kind during the hearing and listened to everything. I don’t think he has any kind of agenda to deny everyone despite his approvals ratings. If you have a hearing with him don’t go in assuming he is going to deny you and be negative. Negativity shows be honest and truthful and you will be fine.

Judge Nunez failed to issue Subpoenas for my Medical Records. 4 August 2017 Hearing was a joke. I withdrew on the record pointing out her errors. She is rude, disorganized and inept. Her Fault, I did not get the Award. She became abusive and later dismissed my case. I am 100% Disabled and have been so since 1993. My most recent appeal via Fax to the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review was denied by letter on 14 February 2018 with a Form Letter. If you get this judge for your disability, my advice is to change it somehow. She denied me disability when I was assaulted by a cab driver. I am half blind and can’t obtain a drivers license. I also have mental health issues from my brain injury. She threw out all evidence supporting my claim. I served my country four years with honor. The stress that I have endured because of this lady should be a crime. I would sue her, but you can’t sue ssa judges. She is a horrible human being. Please stay clear and good luck.

Judge: Eric Eklund
8/23/2017 8:10:18 AM

Today is a “clear” day to write this. As baffled as I was regarding the questions Judge Eric Eklund asked during the hearing at times, I felt comfortable giving him my truthful answers and that they would be received that way. The process because of volume can become rote and assumptive and foster skepticism. We all hope that doesn’t apply to our case. Unknown to me at the time of the hearing but shortly thereafter, the records used for review and basis of the questions were incorrect. I had been counseled not to ask any questions or provide comment or clarification. Mistakes are made, it’s human. I can only judge my decisions. I realized that misunderstandings, misinformation that cascade and go unquestioned or are not clarified are aids in expediency for all but the claimant. Working for over 4 decades, gaining 6 figure salary, saving and having no debt, activities and ongoing learning and are rendered useless against a tick bite. I realized that being proactive and seeking treatment to understand and counteract the abrupt ending of one’s lifestyle are moot points. I learned that activities that are carried from record to record as the “baselines from onset of chronic lyme symptoms” that they really are versus the assumption taken of actual current activities, until the error is discovered by claimant after the hearing and are subsequently corrected and clarified by doctors are missed or not weighted. That 21 plus years employed in a field that necessitated 24 x 7 coverage and daily attendance is said to be able to be performed now even though the medical records and adult function reports consistently indicate the inability to know day to day if one is capable of functioning. Functioning at 40% a few days a week is interpreted as the ability to perform past prior work. That attempting to find or create some kind of work on the “good” days that will fit with the day to day abilities and disability, to spend savings and retirement to support oneself, looking for a cure for chronic lyme and fibromyalgia rather than drugs so that the claimant can as they really wish to, return to full time work and past activity level rather being disabled and doped are detriments not assets. That not knowing exact retirement age via SSA is perfectly understandable to those who want to “retire” only when they are dead but becomes astounding to others. That having a member of the court who has known the claimant for decades and spoke to the drastic change since the tick bites in claimant is not weighted or regarded. This claimant did not wish, plan or hope to be disabled by multiple tick bites. This claimant had a lot of plans for the future that will not be realized. This claimant worked and saved rather than spend. This claimant paid taxes and insurance for over 4 decades and is being denied benefits. Since this is a “good” day, I am clear in being completely baffled and disappointed and depressed over the decision. I’m human. Everyone makes mistakes. My mistake was trust in truth. My peace is integrity.

For 40 Years Each Both Passed Away At 66 Never Collecting A Dime I Will Not Make It To 66 So Why Did I Pay Into A System That Does Nothing For Me?> I Just Wish This Judge Could Live One Day In My Shoes To See The Depression I Hide Daily, To See & Understand Waking Up In The Morning And Not Even Knowing Where You Are Due To Lack Of Oxygen To The Brain, Peeing My Pants Because I Can't Get To The Bathroom Fast Enough Due To My Back And Legs Giving Out, Not Being Able To Properly Take Care Of My Wife And Actually End Up Crawling There, How Does A Person Who Doesn't Trust The Medical Field I Watched Destroy Both Of My Parents With Medication Upon Medication, Deal With A System That Only Trusts The Same Dr's Word? Judge: Eric Eklund
11/6/2016 9:26:12 PM

It has been 6 years and 5 months since I filed for disability based on depression/anxiety/COPD. Judge Eklund was the person in charge of my hearing and decisions. To say I am disappointed in his interpretation of my case would be remiss. I'm still shocked that it took 3/4 of a decade to conclude and my only takeaway is that I am naïve in thinking the system fair. I knew I also took the risk of increasing my anxiety in the long haul and that has occurred swiftly. A remand to the VA. panel gave me hope because those occur in smaller percentages. Judge Eklund in court struck me as pleasant, thorough, and engaged in the process. In writing of the denial reports the first one included several incorrections that gave the connotation to actual issues. As example, the expert psychiatric witness report on my evaluation said I was of normal demeanor in person and omitted the breaking into tears portion when I was at a loss of words becoming emotional. The retention of short term memory was overlooked which is a credible hallmark of the anxiety at work in a learning or stress situation. The huge omission in the 2nd remand hearing was the complete disregard to my counselor of 5 years reporting the negative impact of employment stress. Yet high consideration was given to that 1 hour state psychiatrist shown above who misconstrued my demeanor as witnessed by my accompanying companion. This was followed by the conclusion of the hearing that I found very optimistic from the vocational expert. She stated in response to query that the small sector of jobs left when omitting physical demanding and environmental factored jobs that were options for me would not be stress free as recommended. The Judge did not include this experts opinion in the finding which was positive toward my case. He did not however factor into the last year where the Adminstration in VA. actually did not know I even appealed his findings.

Judge: William Ramsey
6/16/2016 5:16:23 PM

Today, I met with ALJ Ramsey, he was polite, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. I totally broke down talking about all the past and on going medical issues. He was completely kind and offered tissues. The Voc Exp could not find one job I could do at this time. He made no decision at the bench. I will find out in writing, some time from now. Either way, Ramsey is stern but fair, cares but doesn't want to be fooled. He will ask questions. He will listen. I liked him, he was a no nonsense type of guy. My suggestion is, you be on point with him and he will give you all the respect you deserve.

Judge: Constance D Carter
5/24/2016 9:37:58 AM

I believe Judge Carter is the meanest woman I've had the displeasure to meet. She totally disregards evidence and formed an opinion before the hearing. I believe that medical professionals should be making decisions. She is delusional and made up information in my final report. I knew it would be bad when the person in front of me came out cursing. He was disabled but she does not feel that benefits are justified. Dissatisfied

Judge: Paul W Goodale
5/6/2016 3:58:38 PM

It took Judge Goodale eight months to render my decision. Even though I have two conditions on the disability list that should have been favorable (Lupus and Lumbar Stenosis)- Not to mention I applied when I had cervical stenosis which ended up in emergency surgery and over a year to recover. The surgery left with loss of mobility in my neck...nerve damage in my hands, feet, chest and neck. I have extreme trouble walking, standing and sitting. I worked my whole life and every weeks the system took money from my pay and sent me notices stating if I ever became disabled this money taken out of my pay - well this was the reason. They don't tell you how you have to fight for it- or they twist things to make it work in the state's favor. I am not any never have been addicted to drugs, I am just shy of 50 years old, I speak English and I have worked very hard to put myself through a few college classes....These things worked against me. What a twisted system. I am disappointed and disgusted by Judge Paul Goodale who failed a human being in need- One who has done nothing but the right things in life- Perhaps, if the judge spent one day in my shoes or was inside my head to know the despair... his decision would not be the injustice he served.

I've had debilitating major depression disorder for many years, I was told at my hearing nov 2015 I would have a answer by 30 to 60 days. I explained I'm homeless, have been searching for a couch almost every night. I am clean and sober for 3 and a half years and have still been optimistic that the judge would understand under such dress I am grateful for my clean time, and proud. He did make a comment that "the state doesn't reward drug addiction" I again agreed that was fine and again, said I was clean and sober. It's very easy to right off a CLEAN addict.. I thought the comment was continued to answer all the answers In a truthful manner, I thought I was well put together for no representation. I am still couch hoping and just had a hysterectomy, I am currently recouping at my abusive xhusband, and have major depression and anxiety all day,do the want to upset him. Sat night I said something and was Pushed and screamed at while his spit hit my face, his fingernail cut into my cheek. He proceeded to scream I am a ĺooser, who doesn't want to work. Told me to "get the expletives out" I moved the few things from the house ripping my stitches, and was told to stop being dramatic. This is just a sample of what I've had to endure waiting for a judge to set me free from this of today, I was denied after explaining my once a week inquiry, that I had to explain again, my dire situation, and my depression was at its worst and really needed a reply..finally 4 mo later, today was told I'm denied. I would never wish anyone the personal hell of panic attacos at any moment, and the depression that keeps me up for days and non able to work. I don't know what is next. I'm feeling hopeless and wish I had a judge that cares about people. I wish I was not around to feel the latest hit..thank you for not having a pulse to the sickness of major depressive disorder. I'm beyond crushed at my one light of help is written off as not his problem.

Judge: James H Packer
2/24/2016 9:28:53 PM

Judge Packer gave me a fair decision. My lawyer did most of the talking. What amazed me about the judicial process was how different approach my lawyer took than I would have on my own. My thought would be to clearly demonstrate where the law is on your side and be prepared to make references to other case decisions which support the interpretation of those laws. True to my expectations, incontrovertible evidence was rigorously required, but the court seemed to hold relevant things that should not have entered into consideration and the important facts became obscured. Still the right decision was made so I don't exactly have anything to complain about.

I have been suffering from severe mental health illness since I was in high school. It has disrupted my employment and caused me to lose careers as well as my home. I have been on medication and in therapy for 22 years. My attorney provided a brief and the judge also received a letter from my psychiatrist explaining the severity of my illnesses and how the destructive symptoms keep me from gainful employment. I'm upset that even when the SSDI criteria is met and backed up with evidence, the judge can still flip a coin on how he wants to handle the decision. I am disgusted with this process, it is unfair and discriminates against mental health illness. Judge Best failed and I find it peculiar he is one of the higest unfavorable decision judges in Rhode Island. Shame on this entire process.

Going into my husband's hearing with Judge Teehan we were very nervous. We had heard so many bad things about him and how harsh he was. Boy were we wrong!! He listened to the Medical Expert and that was it, hearing was over. He didn't even ask the VE any questions. My husband's case was found fully favorable less than a month later! If you have all your medical records and have a legit disability, then there is no reason why a Judge would deny you. Judge Teehan was very fair and understanding. And I'm not just saying this because my husband was approved. he really listens and as long as you have done everything you are supposed to, then there is no reason to fear him. He even thanked my Husband at the end for his service.

With the recent class action lawsuit settlement in response the anti-claimant crew in Queens New York, can anybody say "Class Action Lawsuit against ssa anti-claimant ALJS in Richmond ODAR office?" Its time to shut anti-claimant judges like Nunez down! Is it possible to sue the SSA for emotional distress, pain and suffering caused by anti-claimant judges who deny legitimate claims?

Look at his approval rates year to year -- the ratios remain the same. Judge has an agenda to deny, period.

Had my hear with this judge, in july 2014 i went for a closed period, he ask me a few questions, i answered honestly i was disabled for the period of time i was asking for and he gave me a ruling on the bench. He did his job end of story. Thank god i am able to work again, granted i cant do what i did before but i want to work so i will find something to fit my abilities.

Judge: Sean Teehan
7/16/2014 9:54:05 PM

I was told judge Teehan was going to be hard and ruthless. He seemed kind to me. I just worry that I didn't give all my answers with full explanation s or if I even gave all of the important information out of anxiety. I wish I could have had a video hearing. It would have been easier and less stress! This is a life changing decision. Now I will panicked until I get the decision because the percentage is so low to be approved. I really hope they have to really see the medic impairments and not just denied because of a wrong answer. These hearings are frightening as it is. Well, wish me luck please.God bless all of you!

Judge: Sean Teehan
5/16/2014 2:11:04 PM

Judge Teehan heard my case late 2013. During this hearing Judge Teehan misstated dates as well as the Vocational Specialist's answers, insinuated that I lied about my limitations, was 1.5 hours late hearing my case and offered no explanation or apology for keeping me waiting and then questioned me for approximately 90 minutes. During this questioning Judge Teehan acted as if he were prosecuting me with his condescending tone and excessive questioning. When we left the hearing, my attorney apologized to me for having to go through this hearing that she described as cruel. She stated that Judge Teehan is a nightmare and his excessive questioning was unfair. If I was younger with little medical evidence, then questioning for 90 minutes might have been warranted, however, I am 58 years old, had worked since I was12 years old and never collected welfare or unemployment. I have had several MRI's showing severe back arthritis, moderate canal stenosis, moderate neuro foraminal stenosis, 4 circumferential bulging discs with protrusion into nerves, etc. I have been under the care of a surgeon from MGH and a physiotherapist since late 2010 for my back problems and have had several injections to alleviate the pain and discomfort and unfortunately , nothing has helped. The surgeon at MGH told me that I had so many problems with my back that with surgery I have a 50/50 chance of feeling 30 percent better. These odds aren't worth the risks from surgery and I will have to survive through pain management, injections, PT, medication, etc. Because I can no longer work and was denied SSI, I have had deplete my 401k and all my savings to survive the past 4 years and recently had to move in with a relative because I can no longer afford to pay rent. I have appealed to the SSI Council and will take my case to Federal Court if need be. Additionally, I am lodging a complaint against Judge Teehan for his excessive questioning, his accusation that I signed a document in 2012 stating I wasn't disabled which I never signed and his blatant biased behavior. Judge Teehan is a disgrace and detriment to the SSI disability program and should be reprimanded and removed from his role as a judge based on his biased and disgraceful behavior towards SSI disability applicants. All the SSI Council needs to do is to listen to the tape of my hearing to validate Judge Teehan's misconduct and if has hasn't already, will become their "worst nightmare" if he remains an SSI judge.

I went before this judge and the only thing he could use against me was that I smoke cig's lmao. This judge didn't even open my records. He would not stop about smoking. This judge needs banned fromk the bench.

Judge: Joel F Gardiner
11/30/2013 9:32:27 AM

I went before this judge in summer of 2013, as I enter the courtroom I got a very weird look from this judge, when I stated my age 48 he became very negative. now I have had a few injuries including 2 disc herniations in my lower back 2 disks in my neck which now I have no feeling in my r foot along with sciatic nerve issues running from my back down to my leg into my foot. ive been to 3 doctors in the boston spine groupe. few years later I had a heart attak and a stent operation was done,, then I tore my rot cuff and no longer have strength in my right arm or hand. ive been to several doctors for these conditions and I am on medication. long story short this judge did not review all my doctors and the ones he did he twisted the stories around and .he said because of my age I am still able to work, one example of his explanation,, he is not to lift anything over 5 lbs push pull grasp and no working above shoulder height,, he has also spine impingement nerve damage etc etc.. then goes on to tell me im only in my 40s and to him I don't look like im in any pain,, then has a vocational expert telling him I can go back to work doing automotive work,, and according to 2010 stats there are thousands of positions available,, ahh hello this is 2013 and I cannot bend stretch push pull or grasp,, to me this judge was full of personal attacks due my age,, very negative and very unfair,, when I got my unfavorable decision he had twisted the explanations around did not look at all my doctors records that say not able to work due to conditions.. imo this judge should be fired. I did not ask for these injuries this was the deck I was handed and now have to deal with them for the rest of my life,, thanks judge for being so negative and full of personal attacks because of my now I am no longer insured and cannot collect the money I had paid in to ss. so what do they do with all the money people pay in and cannot collect??? I honestly don't know how this narrow minded judge can sleep at night. and yes this is called freedom of speech,, or did they take my rights away too..

Judge: Daniel J Driscoll
10/21/2013 7:39:14 PM

Judge Driscoll was thorough in his questioning and what I believe is apparent fairness as described by my husband. We are not sure it was approved yet and we will wait for his decision. My husband was very confused about himself yet the judge allowed my husband to try and compose himself many times during the hearing. No matter how the decision turns out my husband said the man was doing his job the best he can do. Our attorney said he believed the case was approved. We can only wait to find out if it actually was. God bless these judges that have to make these very difficult decisions regardless of how they rule.

Despite overwhelming evidence of a heart condition that cannot be treated with meds due to other health problems I was denied. I think he is a nice man,but he just doesn't understand difficult and hard to diagnose cases. I am still waiting on an appeal from his decision meanwhile I have no help or assistance of any kind I will be living out of my car soon!!!!!!! Even if he can't understand what my life is like with my heart problems I have to everyday and wonder why he made that bad decision...

Judge: Barry H Best

Went to my hearing and He stated He wanted to do a continuance to have a DR present to review the medical documents. I am not sure what this means but He appeared to be nice. Started crying a bit when talking about my problems and He did not try to rush me. Took a few breaths then continued. He was not rude to me at all. Even when I did not understand the question and spoke of something completly different. Seemed to show sympathy and not rush me, unlike the hersay of most Judges doing this when someone becomes upset or emotional.

Judge: William Ramsey
12/11/2012 5:39:24 PM

The person above me is being unfair, you were denied plain and simple because you missed your appointment, this judge doesn't approve of that type of behavior. I was told from the beginning that if I missed any appointments that he would dismiss my case. He is the head judge, a very fair man who made me feel comfortable. I received a favorable decision with a different onset date, but he really helped my case and would have received it from the onset date if I had sent him the proper paperwork, it was an oversight on my part, I cannot blame Judge Ramsey. I thank him and I know he has a low rating as far as approvals go, but he sort of sees right through the bologna. You can always appeal your decision from him. I'm very satisfied with his decision and thank him for making me feel comfortable in his courtroom and being a very decent human being as well as his staff. My suggestion would be, be prepared, don't be dishonest and have medical documentations to back up your claims. He wants to see that you are following through with your treatment, otherwise he has to follow the law. Would I have liked a fully favorable decision, of course, but why would I begrudge a man doing his job because of my errors?

Judge: William Ramsey
12/4/2012 8:50:28 AM

I just got home from my hearing. I wasn't denied and I didn't get a bench decision but I found the judge to be very fair and thorough. He asked the important questions and did his due diligence in finding the facts out. It lasted about an hour. I was with my attorney. She hit it out of the park. The vocational expert had his questions and a few jobs that I could do in his opinion. It's just the process. Either way, approval or denial, I was satisfied. I can always appeal. My case was strong and had years of documented surgery and Doctors opinions that favored me getting SSI. Nothing in this world is guaranteed. You have to work on it and get an attorney and cough up a couple grand of your money. It's not the judge, it's you. If you were denied you're case wasn't strong. Point blank.

Judge: William Ramsey

Although this particular judge heard me out and asked really good questions and made me feel very comfortable, at the same time he looked as though he was just speeding through my case. I had 12 years of paper work proving my case from a few doctors, amazing letters from my therapist and psychiatrist, DSS records and school records riddled with abuse- denied. The part I think that made it even more obvious that this judge WRONGFULLY denied me was that my particular disability that I have documentation of, 12-13 years of proof, and present day as well, I was actually a SSDI RECIPIENT FOR 4 YEARS FROM 14-18yrs old!!!!!! I only stopped recieving because of my disability, I was homeless and jobless and didnt keep my review appointment with the psychiatrist, who left 5 minutes early I later found out!!!! COMPLETE MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE AND PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO HAVE PAID INTO THESE BENEFITS ARE OUT HERE SUFFERING.

Judge: Constance D Carter
11/18/2012 2:17:17 PM

Judge C.Carter has a low approval rating. It is not the lowest but it is low in comparison to others. I found her to be objective and probing. I found her to be receptive to accurate honesty. I had to settle for a later on-set date but I fault primary care for that.

Completely disregards the concept that the hearing is the claimant's opportunity for a fair and impartial hearing. Selects certain non-favorable evidence to base his decision on and disregards the remaining record. Attempts to embarrass reps and claimants. Should be reported to chief ALJ.

Judge: J. Alan Mackay
7/30/2012 1:23:29 PM

I have had ALJ MacKay twice in the past month. He is a stickler on the 5 day rule and will not accept evidence submitted after the 5 days. Period. However, he awarded both cases, one 45 year old with chronic pain and one 54 year old whose past relevant was heavy and whose cardiac impairment limited him to sedentary/light work

Judge: J. Alan Mackay
7/26/2012 8:55:25 PM

I have had judge Mackay on two cases, one I won which should never had made it to a law judge as the client was very Ill One I lost that although the Meds did not support the client I knew the client and her problems Personally as she became a friend of the family. I knew it was a long shot but I thought the judge would see she was really truthful and was in need Of these benefits. I think these judges have to realize that most of my brothers and sisters turn away many people we feel don't deserve SSDI but when we bring a client we put a lot of work into their cases and when we loose we suffer as we end up working for months for nothing and that Hurts we do not get a weekly check the cases we bring to you we believe in

Judge: Sean Teehan
6/26/2012 3:23:43 PM

I was before him recently. I had the impression that he did not approach my case objectively, but was looking for a justification to deny it. When he asked the employment specialist if I was capable of certain work requirements, he misstated what I had told him - under oath - and what was in my medical record. I've been told by two lawyers, unconnected with each other, that Teehan has the reputation of being harsh and biased. Why have his approvals dropped so dramatically in the last two years? Look at the statistics below.
