Had hearing March 5th...I found the judge to be very professional ...pleasant and kind. I had to represent myself and I was nervous because I read he had somewhat of a low rating but i was honest and did the best i could. I ended receiving a bench decision...I left in glad this long fight is over

Judge: Brian Garves

I felt like he was all business. I did not feel any special connection or favor. My case was compelling with very ample witnesses and medical evidence. My lawyer was very very on point and good. Waiting on decision.

Haven't gotten approved for my disability yet and I was so nervous because I had never been through this before. After I had started being asked questions, I started to feel able to get through it. He was very understanding and compassionate. He told me other info also that was needed for my case. I just pray everything works out because God is definitely in control!

Shame on people who discriminate against people with disabilities.People who do not do their proper research and act just upon the facts, should be removed/disbarred from any position dealing with peoples rights.Being born with disabilities is NOT a pre-existing condition.Being born without a heart is heartless.I would rate this a a negative but they dont go that low.SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!

I am incredibly impressed with Her knowledge and attention to detail. She took the time to review my case ahead of time and asked the right questions. I am a white woman and disagree with so many of these negative reviews about race. Just be HONEST. She can see right through you. She’s doing her job and doing it right.

I havent received my decision yet, but I was well pleased with Judge Garves, his assistant, as well as the Adjucator. I felt like I was treated human, and not like another number on the calander. My hearing seemed promising. Praying for the best!!!

Judge: Donna Lefebvre
11/22/2017 1:43:32 PM

Judge Lefebvre made me feel at ease, because honestly I was a nervous wreck. An incident in the waiting area prior to the hearing left me a little shaken and embarrassed and was part of one of my conditions, so when my lawyer asked about this problem I broke down in the hearing. I was also embarrassed that when I had to stand up to readjust during the questioning, my hip popped quite loudly but the judges demeanor did not show disdain. I have not received the outcome of my case yet. Either way it goes, I hold no feelings either way towards the judge as a person. She has a job to do like everyone else in the system. I am just grateful I finally got my chance to tell my story, and was well enough to stand(and sit) before her to do so.

I regularly appear in front of Judge Lefebvre and have found her to be both professional and courteous. She takes the time to listen to the claimant and is thorough in her questions. She appreciates a case that is thoroughly prepared beforehand and allows the attorneys who appear before her to make their case before she makes her decision. Edwin A. I was very nervous at my hearing and couldn't explain all my problems but with Sarcoidosis it takes no activities at all to suffer day in and day out with severe pains and pulmonary problems of abnormal breathing.I didn't get a chance to explain the muscle discomfort with numbness throughout my body caused by sarcoids scaring between my soft tissue and bones which causes severe aches and pain..polyarthritis causing swelling and severe pain in my foot, ankle, knees, shoulders and elbows, that also causes me shortness of breath cause the pain are so severe.. I deal with skin rashes and scabies on my face, chest, back and legs that burns and itches.. I also have a high Gout level in my foot that causes me not to be able to where laced shoes and pain and stiffness in my shoulder... the fact that it cause no activities to suffer from these symptoms causes depression that adds on to my fatigue and causes chaos in concentration.. As one of my physicians stated; I'm all around screwed...

Judge: Donna Lefebvre
4/20/2014 9:21:56 PM

She goes through the motions of being professional but she has no respect for anyone trying to get disability. She has a hateful, angry look etched into her face and her dislike of disability claimants is obvious. In the legal community she's known as poison. She will attack you in her decision over things that she didn't even bring up in the hearing. She is spiteful and malicious and clearly has a private vendetta against disability claimants.

Judge: Donna Lefebvre
4/1/2014 12:08:28 AM

Catty and treacherous. Watch out and make sure you have a strong lawyer.

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore
12/20/2013 9:52:47 AM

She is very rude and asks bizarre questions of the Claimant as well as the Rep. To the person who rhetorically asked "is she supposed to be Mary Poppins?" No, but one would expect that she could simply treat the people in her presence as human beings as opposed to complete scum not worth her precious time. Many, many other ALJs seem to have no problem just doing that.

Judge: Robert C Allen

Judge: Frederick W Christian
6/6/2013 10:37:40 AM

Judge Frederick W Christian made my son and I feel so relaxed. We felt like he really listened, and was concerned from a professional standpoint, and from his heart. He explained our rights to us in a way that it caused our hearts to trust his judgments without desiring a attorney. I would recommend Judge Frederick W Christian to everyone, because you'll definitely get a fair hearing.

Judge: Donna Lefebvre
4/18/2013 10:58:16 PM

I really liked this judge, she really seemed to understand what I had gone through, seemed compassionate and professional! When I received my letter from her, not only was I in shock, but my attorney was as well! She went totally opposite of how we thought she would go, not only because of the evidence but also just the way she reacted to everything in court! I think I would've rather had a judge that would've been a total ***** and pretty much let me know how she felt in court than to have a total surprise like we did!

I think that Judge Elmore is on point. So many are complaing about her demeanor. My question is, " Was she suppose to be Mary Poppins? She has a job to do. I am sure she has a heavy case load, Awith many questionable claims. From what I have read here many that have posted seem to be white. And they feel it is a race issue. Tisk tisk I say to you. Then I offer because many of your people denied so many blacks you feel she is doing the same to you. Sad for you. However, Judge Elmore is a bigger person than that.

Judge: William F Pope
2/13/2013 9:49:30 AM

Had a hearing with this judge. He immediately began nit-picking dates and diagnosis information submitted by my attorney. Wasn't sure where he was going with this but the attorney knew to play along and not get irritated. Turns out it was his way of "negotiating" onset of disability. He took a few pot-shots at my medical history, including my weight which was irrelevant, but attorney had warned me not to take any of it personally. When I was finally asked questions, I answered as briefly and as specifically as possible. Attorney advised me that this judge cannot stand vague words & answers. He thanked me each time I answered a question and did not attack me personally in any way. He did not "approve" my case but led the attorney to believe that with a few technical corrections, he would. Fingers crossed!

She is rude to the client and attorney (or rep). To the attys - don't back down...she is still bound by the law whether she believes she is or not. I can't wait to have her any decision she denies overturned on appeal.

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore

ALJ has a very low approval rating and perhaps she is biased but with a rating that low she is denying just about everybody. Claims of racial bias are nonsense.

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore

Judge: William F Pope
9/17/2012 3:30:31 PM

Truly, he's a good judge- believe it or not-- just wants the reps to earn their money and to make sure the truth is being testified and brought forth during the hearing. Credibility goes a long way with this judge. As far as treatment of claimants-- no words to describe. Sadly, even seeing these comments above in print will have no effect. I just wish some of the raw edges could be smoothed and the abrasiveness put to rest.

Judge: William F Pope
9/7/2012 10:30:15 AM

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore
9/6/2012 4:26:51 AM

ask any attorney and they will tell you that McFadden is not a fair ALJ. Why she is still in the ODARS office is beyond me. Look at her record, it speaks for itself. She doesn't seem to comprehend doctors notes, records. If a person has 6 doctors saying this person cannot work then what is the problem? She should be investigated. It would seem she is only in her position for money and not for the office she holds

Hi my name is Angela Marie Green and I applied for disibility benifits after I had a injury that left me in tremendous pain! I finally found out that I had degenerate **** disorder and herniation, in which I had surgery! I have had like for steriod shots and tryed different pain medications and still in a lot of pain! I cannot sleep and maintain the activities that I use to do without subjecting myself from the agany! This has caused me to be very depressed and overwhelmed. I have been waiting a long time for a hearing and have been feeling scared for my three children! I love them very much and feel like they are going without! I have a attorney but haven't heard anything! I can't even keep my lights on at my house. I know there are others waiting as well; I just wish I didn't have to stand in the dark! If there is anything you can do to help I would kindly appreciate it. Thank You

Judge: William F Pope
7/30/2012 2:17:09 PM

Pope is not the worst judge ever. Believe me, with a 44% approval rating, that's better than some whose approval rating is as low as 10%. Pope's attitude is a good candidate for the worst ever. He is profoundly rude to claimants, but in my experience will not take liberties with a well prepared representative. If he knows that the representative knows the case backwards and forwards, he quickly goes from "Insult" Mode to "Let's Make a Deal" mode. He'll typically throw out a ridiculous proposal to amend the onset. You must then be ready to give him a good counter-offer based on the evidence, which still ensures you get paid! If you do, he will likely accept the representative's proposed amended onset. Knowing how to deal with Pope is more than half the battle. . .... . . . .

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore
7/8/2012 7:47:21 AM

As a bi-polar plus other mental health issues with letters from phyciatrist, doctors and so fourth writting that due to my conditions I am unable to work with others or follow the simplest instructions. I was denied by this judge. she didnt even read the last two years of medical reports from my mental health doctors. or the last year from medical doctors. she made up lies in my denial meds run out in a few days and with no income and gov health care that doesnt want to aprove my meds or care because of cost. I take 7 dif meds per day. It will be very interesting to see how my life turns out now. She is very cold and does not understand medical reports and very lazy at her job if she cant read the last two years. dont get this judge unless you are black. she approved a friend that was less off than me but is black and much younger. hopefully the review board will do a better job if not the court system after that. i will keep filing over and over till I find a judge that knows what they are doing. (written by a friend for Miss Bi-polar in her presents and in her own words)

Judge: William F Pope
6/26/2012 9:02:08 AM

Wins my vote for ALJ with the worst Napoleonic Complex. Why do some people think that wearing a black robe gives one license to be rude to people? Also, be warned that this ODAR (and the clerks and security guard) is one of the poorly organized (and some clerks are lazy) in the nation? The security guard actually makes you remove your shoes, then scans the BOTTOMS of your feet for bombs (I kid you not!!). LOL. This office is straight from Central Casting for the Beverly Hillbillies meets Deliverance!! Perhaps this explains Pope's nastiness. After working there every day for years....

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore
6/20/2012 10:04:25 AM

I really wish I could find something good about this ALJ, But I can't find even one positive thing to say. In all my years I have never seen a person as cold and inept to understand a medical report and what is in it. You will find many lies in your denial letter for reasons of such. If you get this judge you may as well not show up and just file a new claim and hope for a ALJ that has good comprehension skills. I would like to know the ratio of Black Vs Whites that have been approved by her.

Judge: Peggy McFadden-Elmore

Ms Elmore doesn't take medical information to rule and doesn't know what is in the files. It would seem she uses more personal feelings into her decision. It would seem like she skims over the records what little records she must read. There is no way some people that are being denied should have. If you are getting this judge please do yourself a favor and beg to be switched. SC really need to get rid of this ALJ. A very bad ALJ in my opinion and should not be in the position she is. She should be practicing in private law. All this ALJ is doing is clogging the review boards and federal appeals office with appeals. I have a feeling most of her judgements will be over turned which in turns does nothing but waste money in which SC cant afford.

Fabricates false evidence by miss reading doctors reports. Has no idea what doctors are saying in reports. A very bad example of a ALJ. she needs to be investigated. Does not know the claimants file or must be blind as to what is in it if she does read. She doesn't seem to like white people

This ALJ is notorious for not knowing the content of the claimant's file, ignoring evidence that does not fit her preconceived notions of the claimant, and dismissing legal argument out of hand if she did not think of it first. Her demeanor is ice-cold. Unlike other bad ALJs who are polite in their direct contact with claimants and representatives, Peggy acts like the whole world is her enemy.

Hottest looking ALJ I've seen. Very cute french sounding accent and a nice demeanor as well.

Very nice courtroom demeanor -- very pleasant and respectful to the claimant; discussed the case with the rep prior to and during the hearing to work out a favorable resolution to the case

She is a very straight forward judge that is fair. She does have a low approval rate but I feel that is due to frivolous claims and new on the job in Columbia SC. If you are truly disabled, I am sure you will be happy with her. If your case is frivolous, she will see right through it.

Judge: William F Pope

The most competent ALJ I have worked with, and regret that he left Hattiesburg ODAR several months ago.

Judge: Ethan A Chase

Worst. Judge. Ever.
